World AIDS Day

Wow! People are doing some incredible things with their websites for Day Without Art and A Day With(out) Weblogs, in observance of World AIDS Day. As Murphy's Law would dictate, I'm out and about in the real world with a fluky FTP server and minimal access to update here.

Still, I'm impressed as all get-out with the HIV/AIDS-related links up today at MetaFilter, a collaborative weblog in which I occasionally participate. Thanks to Matt for taking the initiative and inspiring discussion. Also, check out the personal stories of living with AIDS brought together by Derek's marvelous invention, the {fray}.

Here's a story from Demitria, a former heroin user, about how works exchange programs and other harm reduction measures may have saved his life.

The Kids AIDS Site gives you the opportunity to click-and-donate free care, services and meds. Verrry cool!

Today is a great day to visit The AIDS Memorial Quilt, the world's largest community art project, assembled by hands and hearts around the globe in response to the personal losses from the AIDS pandemic. Maintained by The NAMES Project, it's a touching remembrance and call to action with which I have been honored to be involved.
