I’m a hottie

<BLUSH>: So Jerwin Maximo (a name you just gotta love) thinks I'm a "hottie". Wow, I've only ever had one other person describe me with that phrase and he lied for a living worked in marketing, so I assumed it was just good-natured hyperbole. Jerwin also claims he and I go way back, but I'd wager he goes farther back than I do; he's younger and likely more limber. (On the other hand, Jerwin's biography page reveals evidence his admiration may be of a somewhat narcissistic nature, to wit: we were born on the same day, are the same height and weight and studied the same vocation, but do not practice it today. Spooky.)

POST-SCRIPT: Possibly as soon as this fall, St. Louis will no longer be a 40 newspaper town. Since the folding of the Globe-Democrat in the early 80s, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has been the only daily newspaper of record for the Gateway City. Still, despite regular staff turnovers and a decidedly lackluster news operation, the plucky Suburban Journals — published under some 38 different flags throughout the metro area — have consistently given the Post a run for its circulation money. No longer: Yesterday, Pulitzer Publishing, Post's parent company, announced a deal to buy the Suburban Journals from Journal Register for $165 million. (The move is no surprise to local newsies, although figures as high as $265 million had been batted around. Pulitzer claims the two companies' news operations will be kept separate. We shall see.)
