THE (HOLLYWOOD) HILLS ARE ALIVE: If you're in the Los Angeles area and enjoy high camp — yes, I'm sure that's redundant — pull down the drapes, make yourself an outfit and hurry on down to the Hollywood Bowl this weekend, July 6, to see my friend Edward co-host The Sing-Along Sound of Music with actress Kathy Najimy. (Tix start at just five bucks!) Edward's becoming something of a jet-setting Sing-Along superstar, having hosted these audience participation/costume contest gigs in St. Louis, Houston, Memphis, Austin and, this fall, Baltimore. In his spangly and sparkly leiderhosen, he looks like the missing Von Trapp child, Liberace Von Trapp.

BIG SWITCH: Everyone is coming around to Macintosh lately. Even "Bill Gates". [hat tip to Jish]

SATELLITE OF LOVE: I've been thinking about getting an XM Satellite radio receiver for my car (I'm also probably adding a new CD changer that has MP3 capability). XM seems to have a better channel line-up and more variety of compatible equipment than competitor Sirius. I'd be interested in hearing from folks who've used either or both about the quality of signal in practical use and your satisfaction with the service/selection.
