FAREWELL... Madeline Kahn, dead at age 57. It's a rare and precious gift to be able to make people laugh, and so Madeline Kahn might be considered one of the most gifted comic actresses of our time.

I had the opportunity to meet her briefly at a party after I saw The Sisters Rosensweig in New York a few years ago. She was charming, vivacious, gracious and generous with her time.

I'm going to watch Young Frankenstein and Clue tonight, and treasure the many filmed and recorded musical and comedy legacies this classy dame left behind. (I found two nice fansites on the web dedicated to Madeline Kahn, here and here, and her IMdb filmography.)
