Before the Web Awards ceremony, I repaired to the lobby bar at the Four Seasons to relax after the relentless stress of sleeping all morning and then walking around the trade show.

Here, a still life of the basic elements on my SXSW periodic table: PDA, phone, Shiner and smokes. Missing are the camera and iBook, the former being used, of course, and the latter tucked away in my hotel suite, as I was unaware of the free wireless 'net access surrounding me like a vapor.

I was soon joined for cocktails by Alison Headley and her merry band, and then, suitably primed, I headed off to the awards reception...for more Shiner.
