The party on the roof migrated downstairs, for more conversation, music, beer, pool and air hockey (for these were the elements on the periodic table of SXSW2001).
Dinah Sanders, David Gallagher and The Lady Rebecca Blood chatted at the far end of the table, while Nikolai passed around a cell phone so everyone could leave a voicemail message for Firda, who was there all week in spirit.
And this was more or less how the Interactive portion of SXSW wound down for us. The sodden crew from the Katz's Deli excursion stuck around until closing time, shooting pool and plugging the juke with quarters to hear bad disco and good punk.
I had planned an extra day in Austin, and arrangements were made to meet Dinah, James, Denise and Leia for brunch the next morning, a leisurely way to end my stay.
