Please stand by…
OK, we're all aware that this site is terminally misnamed. "Daily" has become a bit of laughable nomenclature hereabout, and I'm sorry. I've recently
upgraded the software behind the site and, in the process, also apparently broken something on this side, so it'll be a while before things are back to normal.
And by normal, I don't mean continued silence punctuated by the odd monthly update. I mean real, honest-to-dog updates more frequently. Daily? We'll see.
I'll also get the archives sorted and see if we can't spiff things up a bit design-wise. Stay tuned.

A pause
L'il Gromit, my faithful iBook companion, is spending some time at the Laptop Spa having his LCD rejuvenated. Hopefully updates will resume hereabouts in a couple of days.
Next month,
The BradLands begins its ninth year on the web. No wonder I'm so tired.

From the Management
I'm away this weekend and next (still plenty of time to sign on for "Break Bread with Brad" in Los Angeles!), so expect continued sparse activity hereabouts through the end of the month. But there'll be some changes made -- and how! -- come August. Keep watching this space!

London’s calling

In what seems to be becoming a more or less biennial tradition, I'll be making a trip across the sea as a holiday treat to myself. Yes, friends, that means Brad is jetting to London for seven decadent days of theatre, shopping, museums and the pulsating vibe of the city's infamous nightlife. As such, neither
The Daily Brad nor
Must See HTTP are likely to be updated until after the first of the year.
I know that this site, in particular, has seemed a bit moribund these past few weeks. I can only attribute my slack to a very busy couple of months (opening three shows in four weeks
can take its toll) and to a bout of uncharacteristic holiday-time ennui.
The goal of
The Daily Brad was, largely, to force myself to write
something everyday. It has never been intended as a daily journal or diary, nor should readers take everything here as the gospel truth. Some events are recorded days, weeks, even years after they occured and some names have been changed or obscured to protect the guilty, for none of us is really quite innocent.
Over the holiday, I'll spend a bit of time contemplating whether I want to continue this or whether something else might better serve my muse. Don't fret, for I won't be abandoning writing here entirely on any account. If nothing else, after all, I owe it to myself to
be the best damn kudu I can be.
Here's wishing each and every reader of The BradLands a bright and happy holiday, however you celebrate, and best wishes for a safe, happy and healthy new year.
Mwah! Mwah!

Gone South
The Daily Brad is on vacation while we head down to Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest Interactive Festival. It promises to be a fun, informative week -- filled with panel discussions, parties and opportunities to connect with friends old and new. Updates resume here on Thursday, March 15. In the meantime, why not take the opportunity to sample of some of the delectible dishes o' fabulousness served up by our friends listed in the column on the left. You'll leave satisfied, that we guarantee.

From the Management
AND WE'RE BACK: All of our Internet connections have been restored, home and work computers repaired and FTP access regained to the perky little server that hosts this website. Just in time, too, since after two weeks things were beginning to get a bit stale around these parts. But don't you think we've been resting on our duffs! No, sir! When we weren't busy talking about ourself in the third person, we were still lovingly crafting daily content for you, even if you couldn't read it. Pour yourself a tall glass or cup of your beverage of choice, settle back and enjoy two weeks worth of The Daily Brad. It may not be fresh, but it's just as tasty as the day it was made. (Regular updates resume on Monday.)

From the Management
FROM THE MANAGEMENT: Updates have resumed at the happy little weblog that lives in The BradLands, rechristened "Must See HTTP" and moved into its very own directory on ye olde server. The weblog is now a Blogger project and its move paves the way for a variety of new features soon to debut hereabouts.
Meanwhile, we've decided on a more-or-less weekdays-only publishing schedule for The Daily Brad, with occasional special features or pointers to notable personal commentary elsewhere on the weekends. Of course we might change our mind but, as those of us who are fond of speaking in the third person often do.
For a starter, then, we recommend
Derek Powazek's tale of pooping in holes and thwarting pre-adolescent muggers on his recent excursion to Italy, and for laffs, Greg Knauss' classic
Damp Pants.
